Bono turned 60

Today Bono turned 60 years old.

It amazes me to still remember the day of his birth. Today I barely know the name of new singers or bands I start to listen the songs, but I can tell you by heart that his real name is Paul David Hewson, born May 10th, 1960.

He was my first sex symbol and personal hero in the 90's. I had pictures of him in my wardrobe and notebook (a real notebook, made of paper and written by pen)

By the time he turned 50 any of that felt truth anymore. He had shake hands with too many people and companies and said too much about political and social matters too delicate to me. I could not held the hand of a devil like he does. A few years ago  I read somewhere he had said "Bono is tired of Bono." I liked that.

Despite any political difference or disagreement, U2 has always been part of the soundtrack of my life. At some night last week I played some U2's records back to back and I felt happy, I felt at home. I hope to keep feeling like that. With the rest of the band, his voice and lyrics has saved me many times. I hope there's still more U2 albums to come.

The world has changed a lot and very quick lately. The sense of political difference has another scale ever since truth and good lost their meaning. So now, at his 60s and my 40s, I'm happy he's still around, old and doing music, helping people, saying shit and whatever.
You're not on a pedestal anymore but keep banging your drums, Bono. I'm listening.

===

(A memory came to my mind now:  after the last U2 gig I saw, I was in a very crowded bus going back home and a woman on my side said Bono shouldn't talk about politics at the concerts because people were there for the songs. I turned to her and said that if she really thought that then she didn't know anything about U2. Other people on the bus back me up.

Maybe you still are a bit of a hero, babe)

Thank you, Pearl Jam

It was amazing, as always.
One of the best things about this band is the love for them shared between me, my mom and my brother. It's a family bond.

Alan Rickman, R.I.P

His Colonel Brandon was my first Jane Austen's Crush
It made me discover her books, actually.
And then I became a fan of his.

What did I learn on the show last night, Craig?

No one lives forever
This business here I've got to finish

Since Craig said he was quitting the LLS all the guests, or at least the ones who appears once a year in the show, said goodbye like the man was retiring or worst, dying.
So last night he said best than any other time he's not giving up on anything, he's moving on.
That's a very difficult thing for the most of us to do, to me especially. I don't know if it's a cultural behavior or just our survival mode screaming, but to "close a door", to end up something always reminds us of death.
But quitting, finishing or ending can be the exactly opposite of death.
Maybe people like Craig can do it with a little bit of more courage and faith than the rest because he once had to quit something infinitely harder: drinking. It took a huge amount of time, pain and nearly everything he had back then, as well described in his biography (which I love!) but he did it. And I believe that beating all that pain and shame can give someone a different perspective of life. A real sense that you're not gonna be here forever so you gotta live right now.
Anyone can and will tell you that many many times in your life: family, friends, teachers, therapists, partners, bosses, TV shows and movies but only in experience we can finally understand it.
To grow up and to live has much more to do with moving than standing at the same place.
So move your fucking butt right now!

I wish you all the best, Mr. Ferguson!

About the HIMYM Finale

As the majority of viewers, I totally hated it.
I could make an huge text about all the things I didn't liked, but I was so angry yesterday I want avoid going to deep on this matter again. I only want to say two things:

1. to the ones who defend Robin regretted not choosing Ted, that doesn't mean she loved him. I understood at the Halloween scene she was jealous when she realized that destiny and "finding the one" was something that happened for Ted (who spent 9 years of our lives defending this truth) and not for her (who never believed anyway). Through the whole show Robin represented that side of all of us that likes to know or to keep someone always waiting, believing and loving us, even when we know it's never gonna happen or work out. To put she and Ted together again in the end is a big consolation prize for her and maybe to many of us, especially like that without any kind of effort, but kills the very essence of Ted's conception for love, which was to find someone who's ready and open to give as much love and devotion as he could.

2. If you don't agree with this and liked the final episode, I'm happy for you. I actually envy you because life goes on and these 9 years were not in vain for you. But if you think like me, I highly recommend you to watch this alternative version made by a fan and take this, from now on, as the real finale.

Finally a great new TV show to fall in love with

The first season is almost over out there, it just started here and I'm already worried about how am I gonna wait a whole year before season 2...
I can't even tell which character I love the most.. it changes every week.
Maybe Will.
Yeah.
People love to say they like the most unlikable character or the one nobody cares but I usually stick with the hero. No shame.
All the others characters (and actors) are great though.

More as my passion develops.

Time to go.

So The Afghan Whigs are back...

... but I'm still dreaming about The Twilight Singers in this country one of these days. And when I say dreaming I mean literally! Happened last night! =D

Anyway, I wouldn't mind the Whigs in some festival or solo gig here. Not really. Not at all, actually. I wonder if there's any chance...

An easy way to make your fans happy

1. Make an exclusive double album with live songs from your last tour
2. Let your fans and subscribers vote for the ones that should make the album
3. Publish in your site the names, nationalities and favorites songs from everybody who has voted

Easy and cheap for you. A massive participation of your fans. Well done U2!

If PJ Harvey was here....

Diria tb que Stories from the city, stories from the sea é um dos cds fundamentais da minha vida pós 2004.

Top 5: shows que eu perdi (infelizmente)...

2- White Stripes (faltou grana)
